Sable

Coming from a long history of stud breeding with Santa Gertrudis cattle
and American Saddlebred horses,
Tina de Jager much against her families wishes entered into the world of wildlife.

Stemming from a deep routed passion for wildlife and the bush Tina started her first wildlife breeding project in 1995 with Sable first imported from Zimbabwe, taken aback by these females big and well conformed bodies.

Due to Tina’s knowledge and experience in the stud breeding industry she knew that the future success of her herd was going to be about strict and top selection of pedigrees through a variety of selections tools.

In 2007, Tina founded her Pure Zambian herd, sourcing only the best bloodlines from Piet Warren, Thaba Tholo and Chris Visser. Developing the herd with the most sought after genetics from Magic, Tsunami, Madala and Charlie and later on Black Jack, Tequila and Explorer.

Amongst top pedigree bulls, Valley Venture is a great advocate of strong dam lines, from many years of stud breeding experience it is believed that a good dam produces a good breeding animal.

Our Selection Tools

A cornerstone cow of the Valley Venture is Ouma Bok, originally purchased from Chris Visser. It is believed that the best sable ever produced on Valley Venture were off-spring of this incredible sable cow.

Ouma Bok raised her last bull calf in a custom made boma under infrared lights now aptly named ‘Ouma Boma’. Her legacy is continued through her daughters.
